Mystics, Scholars & Holy Men

BLACK Front Press has already published a number of texts dealing with religion, metaphysics and the esoteric, but on this occasion we have invited nine contributors from a variety of spiritual backgrounds to provide us with a chapter on the unique character and fortitude of a particular figure that has inspired each of them in their own lives. Drawing upon a wealth of individual and collective knowledge from some of the world's most enduring traditions - most notably Christianity, Islam, Paganism and Judaism - this book attempts to rise above the petty sectarianism that characterises much of contemporary religious discourse, yet takes into consideration the important fact that modern liberal trends such as ecumenicalism and syncretism present a threat to anyone who wishes to retain a more cohesive and defined world-view. The topics discussed in this collection of essays include Dreamtime in Albion: The Mystical Patriotism of William Blake (Wayne John Sturgeon); The Life and Works of Pythagoras and the Political Legacy of the Pythagorean Society (Hekate Perseia); Why Muhammad Matters (Professor Sahib Mustaqim Bleher); Megillat Setarim: The Spiritual Legacy of Rabbi Yizhak Isaac Safrin of Komarno (Troy Southgate); Meister Eckhart's Orthodoxy (Stephen Borthwick); Ivan Aguéli: The Unity of Art in Mysticism (Sean Jobst); Miguel Serrano: The Hidden Prophet (Wulf); The Byzantine Spirituality of Peter Mogila (John Howells); Hyperborean Apollon and the Golden Chain of the Mystical Tradition of Hyperborea Through the Orphics and Pythagoreans (Hekate Perseia); The Coming of al-Mahdi (Claudio Mutti); and Luria the Mystic: Medieval Kabbalah in Jewish Tradition (Troy Southgate).
